Move for Uganda

Our friends over at World Orphans, who helped start the Haiti Orphan Relief Team (HORT), have launched a new initiative called OVC – Orphan and Vulnerable Child program – to strengthen the Haitian indigenous churches’ role in helping to care for orphans in their country. One of the greatest aspects of World Orphans is their philosophy of going through the local churches to respond to crises.  Local churches know their community, live in the community and have the best means to effectively respond to events in their community.

Take a look at their recent uploaded video talking about the new initiative.

HORT and World Orphans are looking for 24 churches to join the initiative and support 24 Haitian churches through their OVC program.  If you feel your church is in a place to be a part of this movement, register at HORT’s site.

This has to be one of the best prayers in the Bible.  Paul is writing it to the followers of Jesus in Ephesus, a large port city in modern day Greece that was rich in culture and wealth (both by the worldly standard).  With plenty of non-Christian influences around (temptations for drunkenness, promiscuity, mysticism and greed), Paul’s loving words were no doubt a great source of encouragement for daily life in the faith.

And so it is for us. May you find encouragement to live amongst this world while living for the Lord.

My response is to get down on my knees before the Father, this magnificent Father who parcels out all heaven and earth. I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit – not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength – that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in. And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.”  (Ephesians 3:14-19, The Message, NKJV click here)

“I want my music to be a means to frame and portray the Gospel while allowing listeners to get captured emotionally.”

This sentiment is the underlining vision and goal for Eric Parker’s passion and side ministry as facilitated through his record label titled Music for Missions. Continue Reading »

Oh yes, this is very good stuff.

My wife subscribed to “The Utmost for His Highest” blog which sends her daily devotionals from Oswald Chambers.  Every once in a while she’ll send one to me and it’ll hit on something that the Lord has been pursuing in our hearts.  She just sent me this one yesterday.  And it hit me…again. I really love how the Lord uses these to reach His children and tug at us.

It’s SO good. See for yourself (click the link below).
